The Creative Dock

The Creative Dock is a page to write on. Open it with Dock in the menu. On a phone it is in the bar at the bottom, or under Menu.

Your ideas sit on the left, the page in the middle and your settings and sound on the right. On a phone the page takes the screen, and the list button opens your ideas from the bottom.

Write on the page

Type, and the Dock saves as you go. The small line above the page says when it last saved. What you write is a draft that only you can see: not the owner, not your team, not Bo.

A page holds up to 20,000 characters. When you get close, a line under the page says how many are left. If a page ever cannot be saved, a note under it says so: copy the text so you keep it.

Press New page under Your drafts to start a fresh one. The page you left stays in the list. Press a draft to open it again, or the bin next to it to delete it.

See the room left on each channel

The chips above the page are your connected channels. Pick the ones you are writing for. Under the page each channel shows the characters and hashtags you have left. A counter turns red when you go over, and you can keep typing.

• X is counted the way X counts: a link is 23 and an emoji is 2.
• YouTube counts letters like å and emoji as 2, since its limit is in bytes.
• Instagram shows a thin blue line in the page where the caption is cut to "... more" in the feed. Instagram does not publish where it cuts, so the line follows what people see: about 125 characters, or two lines when you use line breaks. On some phones the cut moves a few words.

Copy, dictate and make a post

Copy puts the text on your clipboard and says Copied for two seconds. Paste it into Instagram, Edits or anywhere else.

Dictate records up to three minutes and puts what you said in the page, word for word. Nothing is rewritten.

Make a post opens the composer with your text and the channels you picked, ready to add a photo and a time. It opens straight away, even without a connection: the draft saves on your device and reaches Postfjord when you are back online. The post counts toward You wrote 4 posts this week at the top of the Dock once it is saved.

Check grammar only

Press Check grammar only and Claude looks at spelling, grammar and punctuation, and nothing else. Each fix shows in the page with the old words crossed out and the new ones marked. Press the tick to accept a fix, the cross to keep yours, or Accept all. Press Back to writing when you are done.

Claude is asked to fix only spelling, grammar and punctuation. Postfjord then checks every fix before you see it and leaves out any fix that could change what you mean, and the page says how many were left out. Left out are fixes that:

• change a number, a price, a time, a day or a month, or a mark like $, %, + or an emoji
• add or take away a "not", a question mark, an exclamation mark or a line break, or take away a comma
• touch a link, an address, an @name or a #tag
• change a word like "he", "your", "from", "or" or "up" into another word
• turn a common word into another word Postfjord knows ("free" to "fee", "live" to "love", "possible" to "impossible")
• add more than two small words like "a", "the" or "to", or swap one small word for another

This means Postfjord sometimes leaves out a fix that was right. A rarer word swapped for another, or a comma added where you did not want one, can still get through, so read each fix before you accept it.

If you make a post, copy the text or leave the page in the middle of a check, the fixes you accepted stay and the rest keep your words.

Check grammar only and Dictate are for editors and owners, like every AI button. A viewer can write, save drafts and copy.

Each check uses a little of the workspace's monthly AI budget, like the composer does.

Write it myself

Turn on Write it myself under How you write. On a phone it is under Menu while the Dock is open.

• Every AI button in the Dock and in the composer is hidden: Make a post with Claude, Ideas from Bo, the composer's brief, Rewrite, Shorter, the hashtag suggestions and Check post.
• Your ideas are kept away from Claude. Plan next week and Bo skip the ideas you wrote. Ideas from other people in the workspace are used as before.
• An idea you jot while Write it myself is on is marked Kept from Claude and stays away from Claude for good, even if you turn the setting off later. When anyone opens it in the page, Make a post with Claude is hidden. A post made from it shows no brief, Rewrite or Check post the first time the composer opens with it. Opened again later from Posts or the calendar, the post follows the setting of whoever opens it.
• Check grammar only still works, and only when you press it.
• Scheduling, publishing, automations and reports keep running.

The setting is yours alone and follows you to every workspace. Other people in the workspace choose for themselves.

Ideas

The idea notepad lives in the Dock. Type an idea in the box and press Enter, or press the microphone and say it. Shift+Enter starts a new line, and Cmd+Enter or Ctrl+Enter saves too. The box grows as you write. Ideas belong to the workspace, so everyone in it sees them. Point at an idea to see the date and time it was written.

Press an idea to put it in the page as a new draft, or press the pen next to it to go straight to the composer with it. When that draft becomes a post, the idea is marked as used. The tick marks an idea as used by hand and the bin deletes it. Used ideas can be shown again or reopened.

Plan next week in the calendar and Bo read the open ideas, except those written by someone with Write it myself on and those marked Kept from Claude. Ideas from Bo opens the Manager and asks Bo for three ideas from your week.

The daily prompt

At the top of the Dock there is one idea to write about each day, like "Write about a question a customer asked you this week." Press Write about it for a fresh page with the prompt as its hint. The cross hides it until tomorrow. Turn off hides it for good, and the Daily prompt switch under How you write brings it back.

Focus and sound

On a computer, Focus folds away the top of the Dock and fades everything around the page. Press Esc or Leave focus to come back.

The Sound card plays sounds to write to: Waves at the jetty, Rain, Café and Brown noise. They are made in your browser, so nothing loads and nothing needs a sign-in. Play, pause and set the volume on the card. The sound stops when you leave the Dock, and it is on computers only for now.
