Posts

Scheduled, published, failed and draft posts with their status per channel, retry, delete, duplicate and cancel, what Postfjord does by itself when a platform does not answer, and evergreen posts that come back on a schedule.

Posts, under Social in the sidebar, is the list view of your posts, grouped by status. It used to be called Queue.

Tabs

  • Scheduled shows what is waiting for its time, and posts that are sending right now.
  • Published shows what went out, and posts that went out on some accounts but not all.
  • Failed shows what needs you.
  • Drafts shows posts without a time, and posts you took off the schedule, marked Cancelled.
  • Evergreen holds the posts you want to share again, and their schedule.

Press Open on any post to see it in the composer.

Status per channel

A post can go to several channels; each has its own status and, once published, a link to the live post. A post with a DM automation attached in the composer shows a DM automation badge that opens the automation.

The buttons on a post

  • Open opens the post in the composer.
  • Duplicate makes a copy as a new draft, with the same text, media and accounts, and no time. Use it to post the same thing again or to fix a published post.
  • Cancel schedule (on a scheduled post) stops it from going out. It moves to Drafts, marked Cancelled, and you can schedule it again.
  • Delete (on a draft) removes it for good.
  • Retry and Delete (on a failed post): see below.
  • Evergreen (on a published post): see Evergreen posts below.

When a channel fails

Sometimes a platform is busy or does not answer. Postfjord does not give up at once:

What Postfjord does when a channel does not answer
  1. The first try fails: For example the platform is busy
  2. Postfjord waits and tries again: After 2, 5, 15 and 45 minutes, 5 tries in all
  3. Still failing: The post moves to Failed and shows the reason
  4. You fix it and press Retry: Only the accounts that failed are tried again

While Postfjord waits, the post stays under Scheduled and says when it tries again. You do not need to do anything.

Some problems do not go away by waiting, so Postfjord stops at once and moves the post to Failed:

  • the account needs a Reconnect,
  • an image or video was deleted from Media,
  • the workspace has published all the posts its plan allows this month,
  • the platform refused the post, for example because the text is too long.

Retry

A failed post shows the reason from the platform. Fix the cause (usually the connection or the media) and press Retry. Postfjord itself retries transient errors a few times before marking the post failed.

One error is never retried by itself: when Instagram, Facebook, Threads or LinkedIn does not answer at the moment the post goes live. The post may be up already, and a second try would post it twice. The post then says the platform may have published it. Open the account and look. If the post is there, delete it from Postfjord. If it is not, press Retry.

Fix or delete a failed post

Open a failed post and a card at the top shows what went wrong on each channel, with three buttons:

  • Retry tries the channels that failed again.
  • Back to draft turns it into a draft you can edit and schedule again, for example with other media or a new time. It is there when nothing was published.
  • Delete removes the post. The bin in the Failed tab does the same.

When one channel published and another failed, the post is partly published. Retry the rest, or delete it from Postfjord. What is already published stays on the platform, so remove it there too if you want it gone.

A failed post cannot be edited as it is. To change the text, media or time, press Back to draft first.

Duplicate and cancel

Duplicate a post to reuse it as a new draft. Cancel a scheduled post to stop it from publishing; it moves to Drafts, marked Cancelled, and you can schedule it again.

Evergreen posts

A post that did well once usually does well again. Evergreen posts come back on a schedule, each time with a fresh caption in your brand voice, so nothing repeats word for word.

  1. Open Published and press Evergreen on a post you want to share again.
  2. Open the Evergreen tab and switch on Bring evergreen posts back on a schedule.
  3. Pick the days and the time, and how long a post rests before it can come back (14, 30, 60 or 90 days).
  4. Pick what happens when a post comes back, then press Save.

On each of those days, one post comes back: the one that has come back the fewest times, and of those the one that has rested longest. The first post and its likes stay as they are. The repost is a new post with the same pictures or video and the same channels.

Put it in Drafts for me to check is the default. The new post waits in Drafts with an Evergreen badge, and you schedule it or post it when you like the caption.

Post it on its own sends it a few minutes after the scheduled time. It still waits in Drafts when it needs you: a channel that has to be reconnected, or a caption the AI could not rewrite.

Each new caption uses the AI, like the Rewrite button in the composer, and counts toward your plan's AI budget. When the budget is used up, the post waits in Drafts with its old caption, for you to reword.

A post stops coming back by itself when its pictures or video were deleted from Media, or when none of its channels is connected any more. Press Evergreen on in Published, or Remove in the Evergreen tab, to stop it yourself.

The Evergreen tab also says when the next post comes back, and what happened last time.

FAQ

The post says published but I cannot see it on Instagram

Instagram sometimes takes a minute to show a new post. Use the link in the queue; it goes straight to the post.

What happens if a post fails on one channel?

It is marked partial: the other channels are published, the failed one can be retried alone.

My post is under Scheduled, but its time has passed. Is something wrong?

Probably not. Either it is sending right now, or a platform did not answer and Postfjord is waiting to try again. The post says which. If all tries fail, it moves to Failed.

Will Retry post it twice?

No. Retry only tries the accounts that failed. Accounts that already published are left alone. The one case to check yourself is when the post says the platform may have published it: look on the account first.

Where did my cancelled post go?

To Drafts, marked Cancelled. Open it, pick a time and press Schedule to put it back.

Does an evergreen repost count toward my monthly posts?

Yes, when it goes out. A repost waiting in Drafts does not count.

Can I edit a published post?

Not from Postfjord. Edit it on the platform, or duplicate it and publish a corrected version.
