"Comment GUIDE and I'll send it to you" is the most effective call to action on Instagram, and it only works if the link actually arrives. Postfjord watches your DMs, comments, story replies, mentions and links for the moments you choose and answers within seconds, with the link, the follow-up and the answers to the questions that come after.
A wizard, not a canvas
Pick a template, fill in a few steps, watch the phone preview update as you type, save. Six templates cover what most accounts need: send a DM with your link when someone comments, reply when people DM specific keywords, reply when someone answers your story, thank people who mention you in a story, start a conversation from a link or QR code, and a default reply for when nothing else matched. Every text is yours to change. Keywords can be emoji, and "any word" turns a post into a lead magnet on its own.
Set up the DM before you publish, right in the composer
Attach the automation while you write the post. The composer's DM automation for this post card lets you pick a comment automation or create one from a keyword, and the moment the post goes live Postfjord attaches it. No guessing which post is next, no waiting for the first comment to pin it. A bakery scheduling Friday's "comment CAKE" reel sets up the DM on Wednesday and forgets about it.
Stories and links start conversations too
A poll sticker, a "reply LINK" story or a mention in someone's story all open a conversation, so the whole automation runs: the question, the link, the follow-up. Add a delay of a few minutes so the reply does not land the second they tap. For everything outside Instagram, an ig.me or m.me link with your own code starts an automation the moment the person arrives, and Postfjord makes the QR code for it: on a flyer, a menu card, a screen at the counter. A bike shop's "SERVICE" QR next to the till books more than a poster ever did.
Links that report back
Every link in an automation is shortened through Postfjord, so you see who clicked and how many, per person and per automation. Preview fetches by Meta are filtered out, so the numbers are real clicks by real people.
Waits, conditions and tags, without a canvas
Under Advanced steps an automation can wait two hours, but only between 08:00 and 21:00 and only on weekdays; branch on a tag, a contact field, whether the person follows you, whether they left an email; add or remove tags and set fields as it goes. A language school tags everyone who asked for the brochure, then sends the trial-lesson offer only to people who did not leave an email. Up to twenty steps, still in the wizard.
Add-ons that grow the list
- Follow gate. Ask the person to follow you before the link goes out; Instagram confirms it on the tap.
- Email capture. Ask for their email in the DM, save it on the contact, export it whenever you like.
- Follow-up. One more message, 30 minutes to 23 hours later, only if they did not click.
- Public reply variations. Up to three public replies under the comment, rotated at random, and a like on Facebook. One reply per person per post.
Chat settings per account
Conversation starters for people who open a chat for the first time, a menu in the chat that starts an automation or opens a link, Get Started and a greeting on Messenger, and a default reply per account that answers once a day when nothing else did, for example at night. All saved to Meta from the Channels screen.
Claude answers the questions after the link
Switch on Let Claude answer follow-up questions and Claude answers the "do you have evening slots?" and "how much is it?" that follow, on your brand profile, in the person's language, never inventing prices. When someone asks for a human, the thread is flagged for you. No API key to paste, no second subscription: Claude is already in Postfjord.
Guardrails keep your account on Meta's good side
Hourly send caps, an automatic slow-down when Meta asks for it, one reply per person per post, and a send log of every automated message keep the account healthy. When an automation does not send, the thread says why, in plain words: the 24 hour window had closed, a colleague was replying, the person opted out.
Opt-out built in
STOP, unsubscribe and their equivalents in other languages are understood in every automation. A person who opts out is never written to by an automation again, and you cannot turn that back on by mistake, only they can. A reply from your team pauses automation in that thread, so two voices never talk at once.
Everything in every plan
Story triggers, growth links, conditions, the composer binding, Claude answers: every plan has all of it. The plans differ in volume, never in features.
Stats you can act on
Every automation shows how many people entered, how many completed, how many clicked and how many left their email, plus story replies, mentions and link starts where they apply, so you can see which hook works.
FAQ
How fast is the reply?
Usually within two to five seconds of the message or comment reaching Meta. Delayed story replies, waits and follow-ups go out within a minute of their scheduled time.
Can I pause an automation for one person?
Yes. Open the thread in the inbox and switch automation off for that person. Everyone else keeps getting replies. Your own reply pauses it too, for 30 minutes by default.
Does Meta allow this?
Yes. Postfjord uses Meta's official messaging APIs for business accounts, with the same rules as any other tool: replies only within the 24 hour window, one private reply per comment, and opt-out always respected. The hourly cap and the automatic slow-down keep you inside Meta's limits without thinking about them.
Do the growth links work for people who never messaged me?
Yes, as long as the account has conversation starters (Instagram) or the Get Started button (Facebook) switched on, both set from the Channels screen. Meta requires them for a link to start a conversation with someone new.
Does the Claude step need my own API key?
No. Claude is part of Postfjord and every plan includes an AI budget. An answer costs about one cent from it.
