Zapier

Connect Postfjord to the apps you already use. New signups, sales, posts and messages can start a Zap, and a Zap can add contacts, tags and draft posts.

Zapier connects Postfjord to the other apps you use, like Typeform, Google Sheets, Slack or your CRM. Something that happens in Postfjord can start a Zap, and a Zap can do things in Postfjord. You set it up once with a key, and it runs on its own.

Connect Postfjord to Zapier

You need a Zapier account and Postfjord on the Solo plan or higher. Only the workspace owner can make the key.

  1. In Postfjord, open Settings → Apps and press the Zapier card.
  2. Keep Schedule and publish picked. Adding a contact or a tag can start an email automation, so Zapier needs that level for its contact steps. A key with Drafts only can still make draft posts, and Read only can only start Zaps.
  3. Press Make my key and then Copy key. The key is shown once.
  4. In Zapier, make a Zap and search for Postfjord when you pick a trigger or an action.
  5. Press Sign in and paste your key. Zapier shows your workspace's name when the key works.

Each workspace has its own key. To connect a second workspace, make a key there and sign in again in Zapier.

What starts a Zap

  • New Contact: a contact gets an email address, from a signup form, an import, a DM automation or another app. People who unsubscribed are left out.
  • New Form Signup: someone signed up through one of your forms and clicked the link in the confirmation email.
  • New Sale: a payment came in through your connected Stripe account, with the amount, what sent the sale and the contact it belongs to. See Link tags, sales and results.
  • Post Published: a post went out on all its channels, with the link to it on each one.
  • New Conversation: someone wrote to you for the first time, in a DM or a comment. Zapier gets their display name and the first words of the message, never an email address.

Zapier looks for new things every 1 to 15 minutes, depending on your Zapier plan.

What a Zap can do in Postfjord

  • Create Draft Post: the text, a link, the channels, and a picture from a web address. The post waits in your calendar as a draft. Nothing goes out until you schedule it in Postfjord.
  • Add or Update Contact: by email address, with first name, last name and your own contact fields. When someone already has the address, their contact is updated. A new contact has not said yes to your emails yet. Turn on Send confirmation email and Postfjord sends them the confirmation email, once per address. They get your emails and automations after they click the link, and a connected Mailchimp audience gets them only then too.
  • Add Tag to Contact: one or more tags by name. A tag you do not have yet is made. A tag can start an email automation for someone who has confirmed.
  • Start Email Automation: puts a person in one of your email automations that is on or paused. Only for someone who has confirmed, and never for a contact with the tag the automation stops on. Someone already in it stays where they are. Automations that start on their own are not in the list: a birthday or other date, a reward for sharing, and the email that asks quiet people if they want to stay.
  • Find Contact: looks up a contact by email address, so a later step can use their name and tags.

Limits

  • 60 requests a minute for each key.
  • 2,000 contact changes a day for a workspace, and 500 automation starts.
  • Zapier may look for new things 10,000 times a day with one key.

What a Zap never does

  • It never says yes to your emails for anyone. Only the person can, by clicking the link in the confirmation email.
  • It never adds an address that unsubscribed, bounced or was blocked.
  • It never publishes or sends a post. Posts from Zapier are drafts.
  • It stops when a workspace is suspended. See Workspaces and members.

Make

A Postfjord app for Make (make.com) is next. The same key and the same steps will work there.

FAQ

Does Zapier cost extra in Postfjord?

No. Zapier is included in every Postfjord plan that has keys, from Solo up. Zapier has its own plans, including a free one.

Why does Zapier want the Schedule and publish level?

Because adding a contact or a tag can start one of your email automations, and starting an automation sends email. Posts from Zapier are always drafts, whatever the level.

How do I stop a Zap from working in Postfjord?

Turn the Zap off in Zapier. To stop every Zap at once, revoke the key under Settings → Apps → Your keys.

Someone from my Zap did not get my welcome email. Why?

They have not clicked the link in the confirmation email yet, or they unsubscribed before. Open the contact under Contacts to see their email status.
