Bluesky

Connect your Bluesky account with your handle, then schedule posts with text, links, up to four images or a video, and see likes and replies.

Postfjord posts to Bluesky like any other channel. Write the post once, pick Bluesky with your other channels, and schedule it.

Connect your account

  1. Press Connect on the Bluesky card under Channels.
  2. Type your handle, for example name.bsky.social, or your own domain if you use one as your handle. Leave it empty and you pick the account on Bluesky instead.
  3. Press Continue to Bluesky, sign in and allow Postfjord.
  4. Postfjord adds the account to the workspace.

You never type your Bluesky password into Postfjord. You sign in on Bluesky's own page, and Bluesky lets Postfjord post for you. Press Disconnect in Postfjord to stop it, or remove Postfjord from the connected apps in your Bluesky settings.

What a post can hold

  • Text up to 300 characters. Bluesky counts what you see, so an emoji with a skin tone is one. A link longer than 30 characters is shown shortened and counts as 30.
  • Links, @mentions and #hashtags turn into links in the post. A mention of a handle Bluesky does not know stays plain text.
  • Up to four images, each with the alt text you gave it in the media library. An image over 1 MB is sent as a smaller copy.
  • Or one video: an MP4 file, up to 10 minutes and 300 MB.
  • A post with a link and no images gets a link card with the page's title, description and picture.

Images and a video cannot go in the same post. A text over 300 characters is stopped in the composer: Postfjord does not split it into a thread.

Numbers

Analytics shows your followers, and likes, replies, reposts and quotes for your recent posts. Postfjord reads them from your public profile every night. Bluesky counts no views, so there is no reach.

When something goes wrong

If Bluesky stops accepting the connection, the channel says Reconnect. Press it, type your handle and sign in again. Postfjord renews the connection every night by itself, so this happens when access was removed on Bluesky or the account moved to another server.

FAQ

Do I need an app password?

No. Postfjord uses Bluesky's own sign-in. You sign in on Bluesky and never give Postfjord your password.

Can I connect an account that uses my own domain as its handle?

Yes. Type the domain, for example sunriseyoga.com, and Postfjord finds the account it belongs to.

Why did my video not post?

Bluesky lets an account upload videos only after its email address is confirmed, and it limits how many videos an account can upload a day. The failed post shows what Bluesky answered.

Can Postfjord read or answer my Bluesky messages?

Not yet. Postfjord publishes posts and reads your public numbers. Bluesky messages are not in the inbox.
