Strategy

One page with your goal, who you post for, your content pillars and how often you post. Bo writes the first draft and every draft after it follows the plan.

Strategy is your plan for social media on one page. It says what you want, who you post for, what you post about and how often. Bo reads it before it writes a post, plans a week or answers in the chat, so the drafts follow your plan.

Open Strategy in the menu, above Analytics.

Let Bo write the first draft

  1. Open Strategy.
  2. Press Let Bo write a first draft. Bo reads your brand voice from Settings, your latest posts and the channels you have connected.
  3. Read the draft. Change anything you want.
  4. Press Save.

Nothing is saved until you press Save. Undo throws the draft away. A draft counts on your AI budget, like any other draft from Bo.

The content pillars from your brand voice move into the draft, so nothing you wrote there is lost. A weekday plan such as "Monday: Proof" goes into the notes under Rhythm. Would you rather write it yourself? Press Start with a blank page. Your pillars and weekday plan from the brand voice are filled in for you.

What is on the page

  • Goal: one thing you want in the next few months, for example "Fill the Saturday classes by June."
  • Who you post for: the people most posts are for, a second group, and others to keep in mind.
  • Why people follow you: one sentence on what makes your account worth following.
  • Content pillars: up to 6 topics you post about again and again. Each has a name, a share of your posts, a core message, a list of what you share and why it matters.
  • Rhythm: how many posts a week, on all channels together, and a note on timing.
  • Lean into and Avoid: what to do more of, and what to stay away from. One per line.

The shares of the pillars should add up to 100%. When they do not, the total turns red. Press Even out to split them evenly, then adjust.

A plan per channel

Next to All channels there is a tab for each connected channel. On a channel's tab you can set its own posts per week, its own share for each pillar and a note, for example "Only short videos here." A field you leave empty follows All channels. Follow All channels again clears everything the channel had of its own.

Ask for a new draft

Ask Bo for a new draft writes a fresh plan from your latest posts. It replaces what is on the screen, not what is saved, and asks first when you have changes that are not saved. Your channel plans stay. Press Undo to keep your old plan, or Save to use the new one.

Pillars on your posts

Each post can belong to one of your pillars. In the post editor, under This post, pick one at Pillar. The list shows only when you have a strategy with pillars.

Leave it on Bo picks, and Postfjord picks a pillar for you when the post is scheduled or goes out:

  1. When the post already names a pillar, for example from Bo's week plan, that one is used.
  2. Otherwise Postfjord looks for the words of your pillars in the post. This is free.
  3. When the words do not settle it, the smallest AI model reads the post and picks one, or none. This uses a fraction of a cent from your AI budget.

Your own pick always wins. Postfjord never changes a pillar you picked. Posts made in the Instagram or Facebook app also get a pillar during the nightly update, on paid plans only, up to 25 posts per channel a night (50 on Agency).

Plan against reality

Open Analytics. At the top of Week by week is Plan against reality. It puts your last 4 full weeks next to your strategy:

  • For each pillar, the share you planned and the share you posted. Only posts Postfjord published count here.
  • Likes and comments per post for each pillar, from the recent posts Postfjord can read on your channels. A comment counts as 3 likes.
  • Your rhythm: in how many weeks you reached your posts per week.

Press Strategy on the card to change your plan.

Bo's idea on Mondays

Every Monday Bo looks at your pillars. When one pillar clearly gets more likes and comments per post than the others, Bo suggests a bigger share for it, for example: "Proof gets 2 times the likes and comments of your other pillars. Raise it from 30% to 40% and lower Tips from 30% to 20%?"

  • Apply changes the two shares in your strategy. The total stays the same. Then Bo waits 4 weeks before the next idea, so your posts have time to show how the new shares do.
  • Not now puts the idea away. Bo does not suggest the same change again for 4 weeks.

Bo needs at least 3 posts with numbers in each pillar it compares. When the numbers do not show a clear difference, Bo says nothing that week. This uses no AI.

Sunday drafts

Bo can plan your next week for you every Sunday.

  1. Open Strategy.
  2. Switch on Bo plans next week every Sunday.
  3. If you want, set Posts in the plan. Leave it empty and Bo uses your posts per week from Rhythm.
  4. Press Save.

Every Sunday at 6 pm in your workspace's time zone, Bo writes next week's posts from your strategy. Bo splits them over your content pillars by their shares, and a channel with its own plan gets its own posts and shares. The person who switched Sunday drafts on gets an email (turn it off under Account, Emails from Postfjord), and the Calendar shows a line until someone has looked at the week. Open the plan, change what you want and approve the posts you like. Only approved posts go into the calendar. Nothing goes out on its own. Good to know:

  • Sunday drafts are off until you switch them on.
  • Bo plans at most 10 posts a week. On Free he plans at most 3.
  • A plan counts on your AI budget. When the budget is used up, Bo skips that Sunday.
  • Bo plans each week once. You can still press Plan next week in the Calendar whenever you want.
  • If next week already has a plan, Bo leaves that week alone. That counts a plan you made with Plan next week and one Bo made earlier. A plan you rejected does not count.
  • The email goes only to the person who switched Sunday drafts on. If that person leaves the workspace or becomes a viewer, nobody gets the email, and the plan still waits on the Calendar. Switch it off and on again, then press Save, to get the email yourself.
  • A suspended workspace gets no Sunday plan.

Who can change it

Everyone in the workspace can read the strategy. Owners and editors can change it. Viewers see it as a page of text.

FAQ

Does Bo follow the strategy?

Yes. When a strategy is saved, Bo reads it before every post it drafts, every week it plans and every answer in the chat. The same goes for an AI app you connect to Postfjord, such as ChatGPT or Claude: it gets the strategy with your brand voice.

What happens to the content pillars in my brand voice?

They stay where they are. Once you save a strategy, Bo uses the pillars in the strategy instead.

Does Bo change my strategy on its own?

No. Bo only writes a draft when you press the button, and nothing is saved until you press Save. The Monday idea only changes your shares when you press Apply.

Why does a post have no pillar?

It went out before it had one, or Bo found that none of your pillars fit. Posts made in the Instagram or Facebook app get a pillar on paid plans only. You can always pick one yourself in the post editor.

Will Bo post on Sundays without asking me?

No. Sunday drafts are only a plan. Each post waits for your yes on the plan page, and only the posts you approve go into the calendar.

Can I delete my strategy?

Clear the fields and press Save. Bo then works from your brand voice again, as it did before you had a strategy.
