Mentions

See posts and news articles that name your brand on Bluesky, Hacker News and in the news, plus your Instagram mentions and your App Store and Google Play reviews, each scored by AI so the ones worth an answer come first.

Mentions shows you what people write about you in public. Add your brand name as a keyword, and Postfjord looks for it every few minutes. Every post it finds gets a score from 0 to 100, a mood, what the person wants, and one line that sums it up. The ones worth an answer come first.

You find it in Inbox, under Mentions. You set it up in All settings → Mentions.

Where Postfjord looks

WhereWhat you getAnswer from Postfjord
BlueskyPublic posts with your keywordReply from a connected Bluesky account, or draft, copy and open the post
Hacker NewsStories and comments with your keywordDraft, copy, open the post
XPublic posts from the last 7 days with your keyword, with the X add-on. Each post found uses one X readDraft, copy, open the post
NewsNews articles from sites around the world, found by their headline, with a link to the articleNothing to answer, so there is no Reply
InstagramPosts and comments that tag your connected accountYes

Google PlayReviews of your own Android app from the last 7 daysYes

Postfjord only reads what each service lets apps read through its official API. It never copies pages from websites.

Some places are not in the list yet:

  • YouTube comes in a later round.
  • Threads mentions need one more permission from Meta. They come when Meta approves it.
  • TikTok and LinkedIn have no way for apps like Postfjord to search posts.
  • Instagram hashtags are left out. They would need another review from Meta.

Add a keyword

  1. Open All settings → Mentions.
  2. Under Words to find, write your brand name, for example sunrise yoga. Postfjord looks for these exact words, in this order.
  3. Optional: add up to 3 other ways to write it, like a short name or a hashtag without the #.
  4. Optional: under Must also contain, add words a post needs too. Under Leave out if it contains, add words that mean a post is about something else, like jobs or hiring.
  5. Optional: pick Languages. Leave it on Any language to see everything.
  6. Press Save keyword.

Postfjord then looks back 30 days (7 days on Free) and shows what it finds within about a minute. After that it looks again every 10 minutes on Bluesky, every 30 minutes on Hacker News and every hour in the news. On Free it looks half as often.

You can look back again once a day per keyword with Look back again.

The score

Postfjord's AI reads each post next to your brand profile and gives it:

  • Relevance from 0 to 100: how much the post is about you, or about what you sell.
  • Mood: positive, neutral or negative.
  • What they want: wants to buy, question, complaint, praise, comparing, or other.
  • One line that says what the post is about.

The list shows relevance 60 and up by default. Turn off Relevance 60+ to see everything.

The score runs on its own meter. It never uses up the AI drafts in your plan.

Press Not relevant on a post about someone else with the same name. Postfjord keeps the last 20 of those as examples, and the next scores take them into account.

New, Saved and Done

Every mention starts in New. Press Save to keep it for later, or Done when you have dealt with it. Back to New moves it back.

Mentions on your own Instagram account and reviews of your own places stay in Mentions until you answer. They do not open a conversation in your inbox.

Answer a mention

Press Reply on a card. Bo writes a draft in your brand voice. You can change it before it goes anywhere.

  • Instagram: press Send answer. It goes out from your connected account.
  • Google Play: press Send answer. It shows on Google Play under your app's name. Google allows 350 characters.
  • Bluesky with a connected account: press Reply as @yourhandle. Postfjord asks "Post this reply from @yourhandle?" and, once you confirm, posts it as a reply under their post. Bluesky allows 300 characters. If you have more than one Bluesky account connected, pick which one answers. The mention moves to Done.
  • Bluesky without a connected account: connect one under Channels, or press Copy text, then Open post, and paste your answer there.
  • Hacker News, X and App Store: press Copy text, then Open post (or Open App Store Connect), and paste your answer there. Postfjord does not post on those sites for you.

A draft counts as one AI draft in your plan, like any other draft.

Alerts

Under All settings → Mentions → Alerts:

  • An email right away when someone wants to buy, or a post scores 80 or more. At most 6 an hour per workspace. The rest wait for the daily email. Paid plans only.
  • A daily email at 8:00 in your workspace's time zone, with the mentions from the last day that score 50 or more. No email on days with nothing new.

Each person can turn Mentions emails off for themselves under Account.

How many keywords

PlanKeywordsScored mentions per keyword a month
Free1100
Solo3500
Studio10500
Agency25500

Every plan gets every part of Mentions. The bigger plans get more keywords. You can add up to 3 new keywords a day, or as many as your plan holds if that is more.

When a keyword reaches its monthly number, new posts for it are kept for a week without a score on paid plans, and you can press Score these next month. On Free, posts past that number are not kept until the next month starts. Your own Instagram mentions and reviews keep coming either way.

X reads

X charges Postfjord for every post it hands over, so searching X has its own count, called X reads. You only see X under Where to look when your workspace has the X add-on. Free has no X.

  • Every month the X add-on gives you 300 reads. On Founder the month follows the calendar.
  • Unused reads are saved for the next months. This month and saved reads together go up to 900.
  • Bought reads: the owner can press Buy 1,000 reads for $9 under All settings → Mentions → X reads. You pay once. Bought reads never run out, and you can use them while you have the X add-on.
  • Each post found on X uses one read. Postfjord uses this month's reads first, then saved ones, then bought ones.
  • Spread over the month. Postfjord shares your reads out over the days left in the month, so one busy keyword cannot use them all in a day. Bought reads are shared out over 30 days. When today's share is used, the keyword says Waiting: today's share of X reads is used and searches X again the next day (UTC).
  • The 300 come once a month. If you end the X add-on and add it again within 27 days, you keep what is left, but you do not get another 300 until a month has passed.

X searches go through your own X account, so connect one under Channels first. With the X add-on, a new keyword searches X too. Untick X under Where to look for a keyword you do not need on X, and it uses no reads. X only lets apps search posts from the last 7 days.

The X reads card shows what is left in each of the three. A search asks X for at least 10 posts, so with fewer than 10 reads left, X searches wait until the next month or until you buy more. The keyword then says Waiting: no X reads left. Bluesky, Hacker News, news and your reviews keep coming as before.

A keyword that has all its mentions for the month stops searching X until the next month, so it uses no reads. Posts from people you mute are left out of the X search, so they use no reads either.

A keyword can also wait for your X account. Then it says Connect your X account under Channels or Reconnect X under Channels. X only takes searches up to 512 characters, so a keyword with many other spellings or words to leave out can be too long for X. It then says Too long for X: edit the keyword and remove some of them.

If you bought reads as a consumer, you can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days under Account → X reads you bought. The reads not used yet are removed and you get back their share of the price. Billing has the details.

When the X add-on ends, X searches stop. Your saved and bought reads stay, and you can use them again when you add the X add-on back.

Add your App Store app

Only the workspace owner can add an app.

  1. In App Store Connect, open Users and Access, then Integrations, then App Store Connect API, and copy your Issuer ID.
  2. Make a new key named Postfjord with the App Manager role. Apple only lets that role list your apps. Postfjord only reads reviews, but the role is wider, so use a key just for Postfjord.
  3. Download the .p8 file. Apple lets you download it once.
  4. In Postfjord, open All settings → Mentions → Your apps → Add an App Store app.
  5. Type the Issuer ID, choose the .p8 file, and press Find my apps.
  6. Pick your app and press Add app. Postfjord checks the key with Apple right away.

There is a step by step guide with pictures: Add your apps to Mentions.

Postfjord keeps the key encrypted and never shows it again. Reviews come in twice a day (once a day on Free). You can add up to 5 apps.

Add your Google Play app

Only the workspace owner can add an app. You do not upload a key or a file. You invite Postfjord to read your reviews, the same way you invite a person to your team.

  1. In Postfjord, open All settings → Mentions → Your apps → Add a Google Play app. Press Copy next to the address you see there.
  2. In Play Console, open Users and permissions and press Invite new users. Paste the address where it asks for an email.
  3. Under App permissions, add your app. Tick View app information and Reply to reviews. Leave everything else off.
  4. Send the invite.
  5. Back in Postfjord, type your app's package name (for example com.sunriseyoga.app) and press Add app. Postfjord checks right away that it can read the app.

Google only shares reviews from the last 7 days, and only reviews with words in them. A star rating without words does not come in. Reviews come in twice a day (once a day on Free). You can add up to 5 apps, App Store and Google Play together. An app can be followed by one Postfjord workspace. If another workspace already follows yours, write to hello [at] postfjord.com.

To stop, remove the app in Postfjord and remove the address in Play Console.

Mute an author

Press More → Mute this author on a card. You stop seeing their posts in this workspace, and what they wrote so far moves to Done. Unmute them under All settings → Mentions → Muted authors.

Privacy

Postfjord stores only posts that contain one of your keywords, with the author's handle, name, picture link, the text, the link and the date. It never links one person's accounts across sites and never builds profiles of authors.

Mentions are kept for 12 months, or until you delete one with More → Delete. Posts kept without a score are deleted after a week.

FAQ

Why do I not see posts from TikTok or LinkedIn?

TikTok and LinkedIn give apps like Postfjord no way to search public posts. Postfjord only reads what a service's official API allows.

Does Mentions use my AI drafts?

No. Scores run on their own meter. Only a reply draft from Bo counts as an AI draft.

Can my team see the same mentions?

Yes. Everyone in the workspace sees the same list. When one person marks a mention Done, it is Done for everyone.

How fast does a new post show up?

Within about 10 minutes on Bluesky, 30 minutes on Hacker News and an hour for news on paid plans, half as often on Free. Instagram mentions come in within a few minutes. Reviews come in every 12 hours for the App Store and Google Play.
