Lesson 3 of 5 · 4 min
Words that fit the screen
Many people watch with the sound off, on a bus or in bed with someone asleep next to them. Words on the video tell the story when there is no sound. They also have to be short, because a video does not wait for anyone to finish reading.
One short line
Postfjord puts your words in one box, in the font and colors of your brand kit, above the place where the apps put their own buttons. The box is small on purpose.
- Keep it to one short line, like the hook from lesson one.
- Do not put your whole caption on the video. The caption is for the caption.
- Big and plain beats clever. If you have to squint, it is too long.
Add or change the text
- In the post, press Make it a reel.
- Tick Add text on the video. Postfjord fills in the first sentence of your post.
- Change it to your short line.
- Press Make the video.
The text is part of the video, so you set it before you press Make the video. For other words, press Make another and make a new video. Each plan makes a few videos a day, so check the words before you press the button.
Check the photo behind the words
Words need to stand out from the picture. On a bright, busy photo they get hard to read. Pick photos with a calm area, such as a wall or the sky. In a Reel from several photos, the words stay on the whole video, so check them against every photo, not only the first.
Before the next lesson
Watch your Reel with the sound off. Can you tell what it is about? If not, shorten the words or pick a calmer first photo.
