Postfjord publishes blog posts to the blog of your Shopify store like posts to any other channel. Write the post, pick your store's blog with your other channels, and schedule it. It goes out at the time you chose, with its title, cover picture and tags.
Postfjord changes no product, order or customer. It writes only the blog posts you send.
Before you start
Your store needs to be connected to Postfjord first. Open Settings, Apps, Shopify and press Connect with Shopify. The Shopify page has every step.
Your store also needs a blog. Shopify makes one called News for most stores. You find your blogs under Blog posts in your Shopify admin.
Add your blog
- Open Channels and press Connect on the Shopify blog card.
- Postfjord lists the blogs in your store. Pick one.
- Press Add blog.
Each blog is its own channel. A store with two blogs can have both, and you pick where each post goes.
If Postfjord asks for permission
Postfjord needs permission from Shopify to write blog posts. A store connected before Postfjord could write blog posts gave it only products and orders, so the window asks for it.
- In your Shopify admin, open Apps, then Postfjord.
- Shopify shows the new permission. Approve it.
- Come back to Postfjord and press Check again.
Connected with an app you made yourself? Add the scope write_content to that app in Shopify and install the new version on your store.
Write a blog post
Pick your store's blog in the composer and open its tab.
- Title: the headline of the post. It is needed.
- Text: the body of the post. A blank line starts a new paragraph. A line that starts with ## becomes a heading, and lines that start with - become a list. Web addresses turn into links.
- Hashtags: they become the post's tags in Shopify.
- Picture: the first picture becomes the post's image. A post takes one picture.
- Excerpt: a short summary that your theme shows in lists of posts.
- Send as: Published article puts it live in your store at the scheduled time. Draft on the site puts it in Shopify hidden, where you look at it one last time and publish it yourself.
The author of the post is your store's name.
What Postfjord keeps
Postfjord keeps the blog's name and id, and your store's address. It keeps no key of its own for the blog: it uses your store's connection, which is kept encrypted. For each post it keeps Shopify's id and the link.
When something goes wrong
If your store is disconnected, Postfjord is removed from it in Shopify, or the store moves to another workspace, the blog says Reconnect. Connect the store again under Settings, Apps, Shopify, then press Reconnect on the Shopify blog card and pick the blog.
