Domains and DNS

Cloudflare and Postfjord

Is your domain's DNS at Cloudflare? Postfjord adds the email records for your sending domain for you, with a token that can only change that one domain.

What it does

When you send email from your own domain, three DNS records tell mail services that Postfjord may send for you. If your DNS is at Cloudflare, you do not have to copy them by hand. Paste a Cloudflare token and Postfjord adds the records for you.

Postfjord only adds records. If something else is already on a record's name, it leaves it alone and tells you which record to look at.

Your own sending domain comes with every paid plan, from the Solo plan.

Connect in three steps

  1. In Postfjord, add your domain under Email settings, Send from your own domain, and open Let Postfjord add the records.
  2. In Cloudflare, go to API Tokens, press Create Token, pick the template Edit zone DNS, and pick your email domain under Zone Resources.
  3. Copy the token, paste it in Postfjord and press Add the records.

What moves where

  • From Postfjord to Cloudflare: the three email records for your sending domain.
  • From Cloudflare to Postfjord: whether each record was added.
  • Postfjord uses the token once and does not keep it, so you can delete it in Cloudflare when the domain is ready.
