What it does
When someone signs up through a form on your link in bio page or a landing page and ticks the box to allow it, Postfjord sends Google Analytics 4 one generate_lead event from its own servers. Each event carries the page address with its utm tags, and the tags as the parameters source, medium and campaign, so you can see which links bring in signups.
Your pages set no cookies and run no scripts, and Google's tag never loads on them. Visits and taps are never sent to Google.
Connect in three steps
- In Google Analytics, open Admin, Data streams and your web stream. Copy the Measurement ID and create a Measurement Protocol API secret.
- In Postfjord, go to Pages, paste both into the Google Analytics card with the address of your privacy policy, and press Save and start.
- Press Send test event and look for postfjord_test in DebugView.
What moves where
- From Postfjord to Google Analytics: one generate_lead event per new signup whose visitor ticked the box, with the page address and its utm tags, the visitor's IP address for the country, the browser, the time and a visitor id made at random for that one event.
- From Google Analytics to Postfjord: nothing.
- Postfjord never sends an email address or a name, in plain text or hashed.
FAQ
Do I need Google's tag on my pages?
No. Postfjord sends the event from its servers with the Measurement Protocol, so your pages stay free of cookies and scripts.
Why does each signup show as a new user?
Postfjord gives every event a visitor id made at random, so Google cannot follow a person from one event to the next. You see the signups and the utm tags they came with, without tracking anyone.
Can I use it with the Meta Pixel?
Yes. Connect both, and the one box on your forms asks to tell Meta and Google.
