Academy / Write posts people stop for
Lesson 4 of 4 · 5 min
Make it fit each channel
The same post can go to several channels, but each one reads a little differently. Postfjord writes one base text and lets you change it per channel where it matters.
What changes where
- Instagram: the picture carries the post. Captions can be up to 2,200 characters but only the first lines show. Hashtags go at the end or in the first comment.
- Facebook: a link in the text works, and a little longer is fine.
- Threads: up to 500 characters and one topic tag. Short and conversational, like a reply to a friend.
- LinkedIn: up to 3,000 characters. People read longer posts here if the first line earns it. Say what you learned, not only what you sell.
Channel variants
Write the base text first. Then open a channel's tab in the composer and write a variant only for the channels that need one. Everything else uses the base text. Each tab shows a live preview and warns you when the text is too long or the media does not fit.
You do not have to type the variants yourself. Claude can rewrite the base text for one channel, shorten it, or suggest hashtags. When you generate from a brief with several channels selected, you get one version per channel from the start.
Hashtags, briefly
A few relevant hashtags beat thirty generic ones. Press suggest, keep the ones a customer might search for, and on Instagram put them in the first comment so the caption stays clean.
How you know it worked
Each channel tab shows a preview with no warning, and the Threads version is short enough to read in one breath.
That is the course. Put the three lessons before this one together on your next post: a first line that stops the scroll, a brief with your own detail, and one next step.
