Academy / Turn comments into customers
Lesson 2 of 5 · 4 min
Pick the offer and the keyword
The automation is the easy part. What makes it work is the thing you send and the word people type to get it.
The offer: something they want today
Good offers are small, specific and useful the same day. Some that work for local businesses and creators:
- A pilates studio: the class schedule and a first class for $10. Keyword: SCHEDULE.
- A bakery: this week's menu with prices. Keyword: MENU.
- A barber: the booking link with the three open slots on Saturday. Keyword: BOOK.
- A fitness coach: a one page home workout. Keyword: GUIDE.
- A creator: the full recipe, the gear list, the preset. Keyword: RECIPE, GEAR or PRESET.
If you already have a page with the thing on it, you are done: the link to that page is the offer. No page yet? A PDF in cloud storage with a share link works for the first round.
The keyword: one word, easy to type
- One short word. People type it with a thumb.
- In capitals in the post, so it stands out. Matching ignores case, so "guide", "GUIDE!" and "the guide please" all count.
- Not a word people write anyway. "Yes" or "love" would fire on every friendly comment. "SCHEDULE" will not.
- An emoji works too. 🔥 as a keyword is fun for a creator account, but a word is clearer for a business.
Decide where it listens
An automation can listen on one post, on any post, or on the next post you publish. For your first one, pick the post you are about to write in lesson 4, so you can see it work end to end.
Before the next lesson
Write down three things: the offer, the link to it, and the keyword. The next lesson turns them into the automation in about two minutes.
Quick check · 3 questions
Check what stuck
Which keyword is the safest choice for a bakery's menu post?
Show the answer
MENU. MENU is short and people do not write it by accident. LOVE and YES fire on every friendly comment.
Your keyword is GUIDE. Does the comment "the guide please!" count?
Show the answer
Yes. Matching ignores case and punctuation, so "guide", "GUIDE!" and "the guide please" all count.
You have no page for the offer yet. What works for the first round?
Show the answer
A PDF in cloud storage with a share link. Any link people can open works. A share link to a PDF is enough to start.
