Academy / Plan a month in an hour
Lesson 2 of 5 · 4 min
A weekly rhythm you can keep
A rhythm is a promise to yourself: this kind of post goes out on this day. Keep it small enough that a busy week does not break it.
How many posts?
Pick the number you can keep in your worst month, not your best. For many solo owners, three a week on their main channel is a good start. Three every week beats seven one week and none the next, because people come to expect you, and you stop starting over.
If you post on more than one channel, the same three ideas can go to all of them. Lesson 4 shows how.
Give each slot a pillar
Tie each day to a pillar from lesson 1. For a yoga studio with three posts a week:
- Tuesday, a tip to try at home: "One stretch for the desk, 30 seconds."
- Thursday, behind the scenes: "Meet Priya, who teaches our 7 am class."
- Sunday, schedule and offers: "This week: two new beginner spots on Saturday."
A salon might post before-and-after on Monday, a care tip on Wednesday and open slots on Friday, because Friday is when people notice their hair before the weekend. Pick days that match when your customers think about you.
Pick the times
Start with a guess: when would your customer scroll? Before work, at lunch, after the kids are in bed. Post at the same time for a month. Then look at the numbers. In Postfjord, Analytics breaks engagement down by weekday and hour once it has a few weeks of your posts, and names your best times. Move your slots toward them.
Leave room
Plan three posts, not four. Real things happen: a new class, a customer's kind review, a snow day. A rhythm with a free slot has room for them without falling apart.
Try it now
Write your week: three days, a pillar for each, and a time. Open the calendar in week view and look at where they would sit.
