Lesson 1 of 5 · 5 min
Pick your content pillars
A content pillar is a theme you come back to every week. With four or five of them, you never start from a blank page again. You start from "which pillar is this week's Tuesday?".
What good pillars look like
Each pillar is a kind of post your customer wants to see, and that only you can make. Some examples:
A yoga studio
- Small things to try at home (a stretch, a breath, a tip for desk workers)
- Behind the scenes: teachers, the room, the playlist
- Students in their own words
- This week's schedule and new classes
A dog groomer
- Before and after
- Care tips between visits
- Meet the dogs (the regulars, with their owners' OK)
- Open slots and seasonal offers
A coach
- One lesson from a client's week (no names)
- Numbers and how to read them
- Your own mistakes and what you changed
- How to work with you
Check the mix
Look at your list and count the pillars that sell. If most of your pillars ask for money, followers learn to scroll past. A common split is one post that teaches, one that shows the people or the place, and one with an offer or an invitation. Selling works better when the other posts have earned it.
Use the customer from the last course
If you took Find your customer and your message, your lists help here:
- The problem phrases become a teaching pillar.
- The doubt phrases become a pillar that answers doubts.
- Your proof becomes a pillar of customer stories or before and after.
Save them where the planning happens
In Postfjord, open Settings, Brand voice and write one pillar per line under Content pillars. A weekday next to one is fine: "Tuesday: a tip to try at home". Plan next week in the calendar reads these lines when it proposes posts, so the plan follows your themes instead of inventing its own.
