Connect Cal.com, and Postfjord counts every booking people make on your Cal.com pages. You see which automation, email or landing page sent each person, and everyone who books gets the tag Booked. It works the same way as Calendly (Count your bookings). Only the workspace owner can connect it.
Connect Cal.com
- In Cal.com, open Settings, then Developer, then API keys.
- Press New, call the key Postfjord, choose Never expires and press Save. Copy the key. It starts with
cal_. - In Postfjord, open Settings → Apps → Cal.com, paste the key and press Connect.
Postfjord then adds a webhook in your Cal.com account, under Settings → Developer → Webhooks, that sends each new booking, each cancellation and each new time to Postfjord. Leave it there: removing it stops the bookings from arriving. The key is stored encrypted and is never shown again.
Every Cal.com plan works, the free one too, on cal.com and on Cal.com's European site cal.eu.
How a booking is counted
- Put your Cal.com link in a message in an automation, in an email or in the Booking block on a landing page.
- Postfjord adds tags to the link that say where the person came from. Cal.com keeps them with the booking.
- When someone books, Cal.com tells Postfjord. Postfjord finds the person among your contacts, adds the tag Booked and counts the booking for the automation, email or page that sent them.
The match is exact, the same as with Calendly, because Cal.com sends back the tags Postfjord put on the link. Someone who books without being a contact is counted in the month's total but not added to your contacts.
Classes with seats
A Cal.com event with seats, like a class for 20 people, counts each person who takes a seat as one booking. When one person cancels their seat, only their booking is taken off. When you cancel the whole class in Cal.com, all of its bookings are taken off.
Cancelled and moved bookings
When someone cancels, the booking is taken off again. When someone picks a new time, the booking stays counted where it was and shows the new time under Latest bookings.
What moves where
- From Cal.com to Postfjord: each new booking, cancellation and new time, with the event's name, the time and the tags on the link.
- From Postfjord to Cal.com: nothing but the webhook Postfjord adds when you connect, and removes when you disconnect.
- The name and email in a booking are used to find the contact and then thrown away. Postfjord never keeps the booking's title, notes or answers.
FAQ
Does it work with self-hosted Cal.com?
Not with the API key. A self-hosted Cal.com can still send bookings to your own address:
- In Postfjord, on the Other booking system card, press Turn on and copy the address.
- In Cal.com, add a webhook to that address for Booking created and Booking cancelled.
- Under Payload template, choose Custom and paste this, with three braces on each side as shown:
``json {"id": "{{{uid}}}", "email": "{{{attendees.0.email}}}", "class": "{{{eventTitle}}}", "starts_at": "{{{startTime}}}", "status": "{{{triggerEvent}}}"} ``
Bookings then count in the month's total and tag the person by their email address (Other booking systems). A class with seats counts once this way, not once for each seat. To count each seat, connect Cal.com on cal.com or cal.eu with an API key.
Why is a booking not counted for my automation?
The person has to book from the link Postfjord sent: the short link in the automation, the link in the email or the Booking block on the page. A link that someone copied and shared on is counted only when they are a contact who tapped your link in the week before.
Can a booking start an email?
Yes. Make an email automation under Email → Automations that starts when the tag Booked is added. It goes to people who said yes to your emails, like every automation.
Does Postfjord see my whole client list?
No. Postfjord only hears about bookings made after you connect, and keeps the event's name and time of each.
