What it does
Connect a WhatsApp business number and its messages land in the Inbox. You answer them there, and automations can reply for you. Nothing is posted to WhatsApp: it has no feed.
The number can stay in the WhatsApp Business app on your phone. Then messages show up in both places, and what you send from the phone shows up in the thread too. Postfjord also brings in your one to one chats from the last 6 months and the names in your WhatsApp contacts, once, right after you connect.
WhatsApp has its own rules. People must write to you first. You can answer freely for 24 hours after their last message. After that WhatsApp only takes a template that Meta approved, like a class reminder. You write templates under Message templates and press Send to Meta for approval.
Connect in three steps
- In Postfjord, open Channels in a web browser and press Connect on the WhatsApp card.
- Pick a number in the WhatsApp Business app on your phone, or a new number that is not on WhatsApp yet.
- Press Continue to Facebook, pick your business account and number, and confirm on your phone if it asks.
What moves where
- From Postfjord to WhatsApp: the replies you write, the replies your automations send, and the templates you send once the 24 hours have passed.
- From WhatsApp to Postfjord: the messages people send your number, the number's name as Meta shows it, and for a number in the app your chats from the last 6 months and your contacts' names.
- Postfjord does not read your groups, and old messages never start an automation.
FAQ
Can I keep using the WhatsApp Business app on my phone?
Yes. Update the app to the newest version first. The number then loses a few app features: disappearing messages, view once and broadcast lists.
Why can I not send a normal message to someone?
Their last message was more than 24 hours ago. Press Send a template in the thread and pick an approved one. Meta charges your WhatsApp business account for each template it delivers.
Does Postfjord send templates to people who asked to stop?
No. Postfjord never sends a template to someone who asked not to get messages.
