What the plan is based on
Facebook is a habit for many people: a look over coffee, another in the lunch break, and a longer one in the evening before the TV goes on. The planner gives those hours the most weight. At the weekend it moves the morning later and gives the late morning more room, when people have time to read and comment.
Facebook's feed also mixes posts by what each person tends to engage with. Timing helps your post meet your followers while they are scrolling, and comments that come early keep it alive.
Find your followers' cities
- Open Meta Business Suite on a computer, or the app on your phone.
- Go to Insights, then Audience.
- Look at Top cities and Top countries for your Page. Type the top ones into the planner with their share.
A local business, like a café or a studio, often has most of its followers in one city. Then one place is enough, and the planner's hours line up with your own clock.
Use the plan
- Post at the times in the plan for two weeks.
- In Insights, compare the reach and comments of each post. Keep the times that beat your usual.
- If you post the same thing to Instagram, test the same time on both. Many people use both apps.
FAQ
What is the best time to post on Facebook?
For most Pages: the morning before work, the lunch break and the early evening, on your followers' clock. Weekend mornings are good for posts people read slowly. Add your top cities above to get the hours on your own clock.
Is Facebook different from Instagram?
The windows are close, because many people use both. Facebook's evening starts and ends a little earlier in the planner's rules, and weekend mornings count more.
Should I post to a group at the same times?
A group's members get notifications, so the time matters less there. Use the plan for your Page.
Does the planner save my Page's numbers?
No. It runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to Postfjord or saved.
