How the planner works
You tell it three things: your own time zone, where your followers live, and the platform. It looks at every hour of your week and asks, for each place your followers live, what time it is there. Is it a morning before work, a lunch break, an evening at home, or the middle of the night? Each place counts as much as its share of your followers.
The best hours become your plan. They are spread over the week and mix a few kinds of hours, so two weeks of posting tell you which kind works for you.
The rules behind it are plain ones about when people are awake and off work. Most people check their phones before work, at lunch and in the evening. LinkedIn is read during business hours on weekdays. Weekends start later. The page for each platform says what is different there.
Find where your followers live
- Instagram and Facebook: open Insights in the app or in Meta Business Suite and look for Top locations. You see cities and countries with a share each.
- TikTok: open Analytics, then Followers. It shows top territories.
- YouTube: in YouTube Studio, open Analytics, then Audience, for the top countries.
- LinkedIn: a company page shows follower locations under Analytics. On a personal profile, look at the demographics of your followers.
Type up to five places. A country works when all of it keeps one time, like Sweden or Japan. For a large country, like the United States, pick the biggest cities.
Use the result
- Post at the times in the plan for two weeks.
- Look at the reach and the likes of each post, in the app's own insights.
- Keep the times that did better than your usual, and try a new time in place of the weakest.
Your own numbers decide. The plan is where you start, because a general rule cannot know your followers.
FAQ
Is there one best time to post?
No. The best time depends on where your followers live, what they do for work, and the platform. A gym's followers wake early. A bar's followers are up late. That is why this planner starts from your followers, and why you should test the plan.
Where do these times come from?
From plain rules about when people are awake and off work: before work, lunch, the evening, business hours on weekdays for LinkedIn, and later mornings at the weekend. We do not use survey numbers from other accounts, because your followers are not an average.
Do I need to post at the exact minute?
No. Anywhere in the hour is fine. What matters is that your followers are awake and have a moment to look.
Does the planner save what I type?
No. It runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Postfjord or saved, and the tool sets no cookies.
Can I add the plan to my calendar?
Yes. Press Add to my calendar to download a calendar file. Each time in the plan repeats every week, on your clock, in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook.
